和歌山県湯浅町にある近畿大学附属農場の柑橘栽培圃場を見学させていただきました！広さは約66,500㎡。その中でも、約180品種の柑橘が植えられている柑橘遺伝資源保存園の景色は壮観で、これだけ多くの柑橘を一度に見ることができるのは、世界的にも非常に珍しいそうです。

今回は、イタリア、東京、県内から、主に「柑橘農家の方」と「アート関係者」の皆さまにご参加いただき、飛び交う質問も多岐にわたりました。農家の方々からは「専門的な栽培技術」について、アート関係者の方々からは「アートや哲学的視点で見る柑橘」についての質問が寄せられました。

We had the opportunity to visit the citrus orchards of Kindai University’s Experimental Farm in Yuasa, Wakayama!
The farm covers about 66,500㎡, and within it lies the Citrus Genetic Resource Conservation Orchard, where around 180 different varieties of citrus are planted. The view was truly breathtaking, and we were told that it is extremely rare, even on a global scale, to see so many citrus varieties in one place at the same time.

This time, participants joined us from Italy, Tokyo, and within Wakayama Prefecture — mainly citrus farmers and people from the art field. The questions covered a wide range of topics: from farmers, more technical inquiries about cultivation methods; and from those in the arts, thoughtful questions about citrus from artistic or even philosophical perspectives.

We are deeply grateful to the professors and lecturers who took the time to respond so carefully to each and every question. A heartfelt thank you as well to all the participants, and to everyone at Kindai University’s Experimental Farm for welcoming us so warmly!
